Will My Licensing Authority Accept the ICAO English Certificate?

The short answer

The assessment follows the ICAO language proficiency framework and is intended for aviation licensing use. However, no independent examiner or booking website can make the final endorsement decision for every licence. The civil aviation authority responsible for your licence decides whether it accepts a certificate and how the language level is entered on your licence.

What should I send to my licensing authority?

Ask whether it accepts a language proficiency certificate issued through the testing body above. Include your licence type, licence number or state of issue if requested, and the testing-body details. If your licence is outside the EASA system, confirmation before booking is especially important because national procedures may differ.

The current EASA system includes 31 Member States. This identifies the licensing region; it does not replace the need to check the submission procedure of the authority that issued your licence.

Certificate versus licence endorsement

The certificate records the assessment result. The language endorsement on your pilot licence is entered or recognised by your licensing authority. Receiving a certificate does not by itself update the licence; follow the submission procedure required by your authority.

How long is the level valid?

For this service, the stated validity periods are Level 4 for 4 years, Level 5 for 6 years and Level 6 with unlimited validity. Your licensing authority remains responsible for the final endorsement and validity recorded on your licence.

What safeguards apply to the result?

The official session is recorded and independently second-rated. Candidate assessment records are retained by the testing body for five years with restricted access. A written result dispute may be submitted within 10 working days.
