The assessment

English for
the flight deck.

The examination evaluates the English skills required for safe, effective aeronautical communication. It focuses on how you understand, interact and express yourself—not on memorised scripts.

What is assessed

  • Pronunciation
Clear, intelligible speech in an international environment.
  • Structure & vocabulary
Accurate language and the range to explain effectively.
  • Fluency & interaction
Natural delivery, comprehension and appropriate responses.
ICAO rating scale

Your proficiency is assessed across the six ICAO language descriptors. The lowest individual score determines the overall level.

Required before the official exam

Watch the pre-exam briefing.

This short briefing explains the examination process and what to expect during your session. Official exam candidates should watch it before joining their appointment so the assessment can begin smoothly and on time.

Pilot to pilot

A professional assessment without unnecessary pressure.

Your session is conducted by an active airline pilot currently flying a wide-body aircraft for a major airline in the Middle East. With previous airline flying experience across Europe and international multi-crew operations, your examiner understands both the operational environment and the communication standards pilots face every day.

You will be treated as a fellow professional in a calm and fair setting where you can demonstrate your genuine English ability. Your certified examiner conducts the online assessment, while official exam administration, results and certificates are processed through an approved Language Testing Body.

Professional standards. Human atmosphere.

An assessment should be serious without feeling cold. You will know what to prepare, who you are speaking with and what happens next.

Speak directly with your examiner before the session and receive clear practical guidance.

Calm and fair communication

The environment is relaxed and respectful so nerves do not prevent you from showing your real ability.

Questions

Before
you book.

Can I take the examination from any country?

The session is conducted online, so you can join from anywhere with a stable internet connection, a quiet room, a camera and a microphone. Certificate acceptance depends on your licensing authority; confirm your authority’s requirements before booking.

How does the three-option booking work?

Submit three preferred dates and times, all converted to UTC. Your examiner checks availability and contacts you personally to confirm one option. Until then, the request remains pending and no payment is due through the website.

When will I receive the certificate?

The official result and certificate will normally be issued within 12 hours after the examination. Please allow a maximum processing time of up to 24 hours.

Is this an official ICAO certificate?

The assessment uses the ICAO language proficiency framework and is conducted by a certified examiner. Official administration, results and certificates are processed through an approved Language Testing Body. This independent website is not ICAO or a civil aviation authority.

What is the difference between a mock and the official exam?

The mock reproduces the style and timing of an assessment and includes personal feedback, but it does not produce an official result, licence endorsement or certificate. It is designed to show what to improve before the official exam.

Can I take lessons before the exam?

Yes. You can book one lesson or arrange several sessions focused on fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, comprehension and interaction. Lessons help you prepare but cannot guarantee a particular ICAO level.

What do I need on exam day?

A valid photo ID, a reliable internet connection, a computer with camera and microphone, and a quiet environment where you can speak freely.

Can I reschedule?

If you need to change your appointment, contact your examiner as early as possible. Rescheduling is subject to availability and the terms confirmed with your booking.
